Doggerland Totem Dolls

Small, unique, individual totem dolls, hand crafted by Julie Howse inspired by different cultural created figures and forms that represent spirits of the natural world and ancestors; often carved from wood or stone or formed from clay. They were also inspired by reimagining the people who once lived on the now submerged land called Doggerland that once joined the East Anglia to Europe

Each totem doll has been crafted from scraps of cotton, cotton mix cloth and polyester filling. Their garments are  decorated with ink painting and hand embroidery that reflects different natural aspects of the present East Anglian coastal regions and the past environment of Doggerland.

The garments can be removed but cannot be washed as ink has been used in painted areas, also do not display in bright sunlight as ink will fade.
The dolls are not toys as many have wire inserted with possible sharp ends.
