One of two new dolls with long grey hair re-modelled from two earlier figures.
The attic has an alcove with a built-in shelving unit, which was used by my brother long ago to store his clothes and books.
I had the idea to hang the doll inside the wardrobe unit to give it the appearance of being enclosed inside a box-like space.
Enclosing the figures within cages, boxes, suitcases and furniture is a recurring theme in my work. I like to add a feeling of anxiety and uncanniness to a mundane domestic environment.
If someone would open the wardrobe, unaware about what’s inside, the gnomish puppet would be startling.
